Otero Canyon. In February?
Yeah, that's the state of affairs round here, a blessing and a curse.
Seems the snow has melted off the trails up Otero already, giving us mountain bikers a refreshing change of pace. Hence our blessing.
But the snow has melted off in February already. Hence our curse, if you like your forests open and wildfire free come summer.
As for me, I'm just now recovering from the one-two punch that is the worst headcold in the history of Man, followed by back-to-back kids soccer tourney weekends.
Both of which left me bandy-legged, lungs rattled on my usual climbs.
Still, it is February and my trails are open.
Happy Oteruary everyone!
Rode there about ten years ago and it was totally awesome.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
I'll second that opinion. Weather moving in, dare I say I hope that's my last ride up there til Spring? Mike
DeleteMr. Groundhog said Spring is right around the corner...breathe easy.
ReplyDeleteGotta get the fly rod out, fingers crossed it's this weekend. Mjh
DeleteGood to see you are on the mend! Looks more like what April conditions should be up there. Dang, we surely do need some of those heavy, wet, spring snows to come our way........

Yeah I'm back. I'm tagging with the kids mtb team on Sunday. Nothing like a peloton of pre-teens to make you realize how far you've fallen off the wagon. What doesn't kill you, right? Mike
DeleteMiss those trails!
ReplyDeleteOtero shut down for a bit again- should be open in a week or two given this break in the weather. Spring is here! Mike
