black is the new black

This installment of In The Flybox features two, yes two!, of my favorite patterns for the San Juan.  Just 'cause I'm the giving type-  I know!

the venerable Zebra Midge: black thread body, grey dubbed thorax, with silver wire rib.  Here tied in #24:

and a WD40 variant, in black with pheasant tail, again in #24.

  2. Well that didn't go as planned. At all. Been working on projects in 4-corners area for better part of of 4 years, can count on one hand the times I've been able to leave jobsite early enuf to put a bend in the rod on the Juan. Just 30 min away! Well yesterday was par for the course, sigh. I should ask my fishing gear if they enjoyed the trip! I've since made plans to rectify the oversight- dare not divulge just yet for fear of ju-ju curse from snowed in anglers to the north. ;-)
